Volunteer Jobs for Championship Meet

All volunteers must check in at their designated time in the ISC lobby.

Announcer: Responsible for making announcements over a microphone. Must bring iDevice with appropriate music to be played during warm-ups. A written script will be provided by the Meet Director to help guide you.

Awards Table: Apply labels to ribbons and sort ribbons based on team.

Clerk of Course: Responsible for lining up the swimmers in their proper event and heats prior to walking them to the start blocks. This is particularly important for the younger swimmers. The C of C should have a basic understanding of swim meet organization. Only available for ages 6-12.

Computer Table Assistant: Training is NOT required. This volunteer will assist trained HYTEK and DAK workers with entering and reading off numbers for scoring purposes. As an extra set of eyes and ears at the table - this person helps the table run efficiently

Heat Winner Ribbon: Provide Heat Winner ribbons on deck to the swimmer that comes in first place.

Meet Marshall: Assists the Meet Director with keeping spectators in designated areas and maintaining traffic flow.

Referee/Starter: Experience and training (either league or USA) required. Chief Official, Josh Hesse, will be present on deck for guidance. If you’re the resident expert Referee or Starter during your dual meet season - this job is for you! Remember, the Championship Meet DOES NOT use Swimmingly because we use touch pads and a scoreboard.

Stroke and Turn Judges: Experience and training (either league or USA) required. S&T officials are positioned at both ends of the pool to observe all swimmers for proper stroke and turn technique. They must observe disqualifications (“DQ") of swimmers not swimming in accordance with the rules. Attending the Official's meeting will be required before the session. See designated time/location at check-in.

Parking Lot Attendant: Responsible for directing vehicles, traffic and ensuring safety of attendees crossing the parking lot outside throughout the meet.

Runner: Responsible for collecting time sheets from timers and posting results in designated area.

Timer: Stopwatches will be provided. Swimmingly is not used at the Championship Meet because we use touch pads and a scoreboard. No iDevices required. Both timers, collect times, one also uses a “pickle,” and one records all times on the timer sheet. Attending the Timer's meeting will be required before the session. See designated time/location at check-in.
